Located on the west coast of Lake Shinji, this hands-on learning aquarium has the main theme of "Let's learn more about the nature of our hometown. Let's be more familiar with the living things of the water.".
In Shimane Prefecture, there are many rivers rich in nature, including Shinjiko Lake and Nakaumi Lake, which are the most prominent brackish lakes in Japan, and various creatures live there.
The Shinjiko Lake Nature Museum provides a place to discover and re-recognize the charms of Shimane's natural environment by breeding and exhibiting the creatures that inhabit this rich water area.
